Beige plates let your food take centre stage. The colour draws no attention away from what is on it, and it works with almost any interior. That is why it is the plate most people start with here, and the one they build around later.
Our beige tones come from three lines that belong together. Limestone Valley has the soft limestone colour of the Portuguese hills. Broken Shells is matte white with golden brown speckles, inspired by the shells along the coast. On The Rocks goes warmer and deeper, towards brown.
Every plate is finished by hand and goes through the kiln with a reactive glaze. The colour shifts during firing, so each piece gets a texture of its own.
You see it back on the table: six beige plates side by side look warm rather than uniform, even when they come from the same line. That is the difference with factory white, where every plate is identical.
The 27 centimeter dinner plate carries a full main course. Roomy enough to lay meat, vegetables and potato side by side without the plate looking crowded.
The 22 centimeter pasta plate has a raised rim that holds sauce in place. Besides pasta and risotto it also works for soup as a main and for a hearty salad. Many people search for this as a deep plate, which is really the same product.
The 22 centimeter breakfast plate is the size that works hardest. For bread, lunch, a starter or a dessert. In most households this plate comes out of the cupboard more often than all the others together.
The 16 centimetre mini plate is for cake, an amuse or as a side plate with drinks. It comes as a set, so you can lay the table with it right away.
You do not buy a beige plate set from us as a fixed box, you put it together yourself.
For most households this ratio works: one dinner plate per person and two breakfast plates, because that last plate is the one you use most. One pasta plate per person is enough, unless you often eat soup. Mini plates you buy by occasion, not by number of people.
If you regularly have six people over, you do not need to double your base. Four extra dinner plates and four extra breakfast plates cover almost any situation. Feel free to take those in a different tone, so it looks intentional rather than topped up.
If you would rather have a ready-made set with plates, bowls and cups together, take a look at our beige dinnerware sets.
Beige is the colour you build on, and that is exactly why it is worth choosing at least one other tone to go with it.
Put green next to it and your table gains depth. If you prefer to keep it light, go for off-white. And if you want contrast, one dark plate among your beige plates does more than a second full set.
Because all Mimo lines have natural colours, every single plate connects to what you buy later. A plate from today will still suit the set you pick out two years from now.
Yes! All our plates are dishwasher and microwave safe.
They belong to the same family but are not the same. Sand is lighter and cooler, taupe is warmer and moves towards grey brown. Across our collections you will find all kinds of beige tones.
No. Because of the reactive glaze and the finishing by hand, there are natural variations in the finish and the shape. That is exactly what makes a set table feel alive.
Yes, of course you can mix and match! For our ceramic tableware from Portugal we chose matte, natural and timeless colours. Perfect to combine endlessly.
Nothing. We call it a pasta plate because pasta is what it is used for most, but anyone searching for a deep plate means the same plate.
