Plates
The plate is the first thing you see when the food reaches the table, and it is still there long after everyone has finished. Our plates in Portuguese ceramics are made to make that moment nicer, in warm earth tones that let your food stand out. Start with the one plate that speaks to you, or build a whole table around it in your own time.
Choose your plate by type
Every size has its own role on the table. The 27 centimetre dinner plate is there for the main course, with room for everything side by side. The 22 centimetre pasta plate has a raised rim for pasta, risotto or soup, and it is exactly the same plate most people call a deep plate. The 22 centimetre breakfast plate is the one you reach for most, for bread, lunch or a dessert. And the 16 centimetre mini plate is there for cake, an amuse or with drinks.
Want to look by type? You will find everything in our Portuguese tableware collection.
Putting together your own plate set
You do not buy a plate set from us as a fixed box, you put it together yourself. For most households one dinner plate per person with two breakfast plates works well, because that last plate is the one you use most. One pasta plate per person is enough, unless you often eat soup.
Would you rather have everything at once, with plates, bowls and cups together? Then take a look at our dinnerware sets.
Plates by colour
All our plates come in natural tones that you can combine endlessly. Beige is the calmest base and the colour most people start with. If you want depth, put green or a darker tone next to it.
Because all lines share the same matte finish and natural colours, a single plate always suits a set you bought earlier or pick out later.
Ceramic plates made for everyday use
Our plates are stoneware, a sturdy type of ceramic fired at a high temperature. They are dishwasher and microwave safe, and they last for years without looking worn.
Every plate goes through the kiln with a reactive glaze, so the colour shifts during firing and each piece gets a texture of its own. Read more about the material on our ceramic tableware page.
Frequently asked questions

Nothing. We call it a pasta plate because pasta is what it is used for most, but anyone searching for a deep plate usually means the same plate.
No. Because of the reactive glaze and the finishing by hand, there are natural variations in the finish and the shape. That is exactly what makes a set table feel alive.
Yes, of course you can mix and match! For our ceramic tableware from Portugal we chose matte, natural and timeless colours. Perfect to combine endlessly.
